If you've seen our specials board up behind the sushi bar you've probably noticed the scallop or ebi gunkan, Kenji just recently added salmon gunkan and a tuna poke (gunkan style).
The tuna poke is shown on the front left, it's spicy and delicious! It's wrapped in seaweed, I didn't get a chance to take a picture of the seaweed version but you get the idea. Also shown is the Erica Roll and Kamikaze Roll (this is our bestseller it's spicy fried oyster with avocado) in the back, up front left to right is Tuna Poke, Hamachi, Saba (mackerel) and Sake (salmon).
Here is a closeup shot.

Chopsticks tutorial
So I left my camera at home tonight and missed some good photo opportunities, I knew that would happen! Now that I'm sitting here at home wondering how to update this weeks blog I thought I would show you how to use chopsticks.
Most of you probably already know how but here's to all you forkers out there!
I hold my bottom stick like a pencil, and I prop both pencil and chopstick on my ring finger. You can also put it on your middle finger if that's more comfortable (click photos to enlarge).
Take your other chopstick and hold it with your index (and in my case both middle and index) and thumb. This is the stick that you will move to grab your food, move it up and down while leaving the bottom stationary and resting at the base of your thumb/ring finger.
This is the closed position, minus the food!
I found some food, sour cream and onion potato chips. Yes, I ate it after this shot too.
These are my Hello Kitty chopsticks from the 80's, they are too small for me now but they are so cute!
Next week I won't forget to bring the camera to work and blind you with some home photos I promise.
Hello to Susan if you stop by!

Record Searchlight D.A.T.E feature!
We were featured in the Record Searchlight on Thursday: http://www.redding.com/news/2009/mar/12/dining-out-sakura-serves-simple-spectacular-sushi/
It was very busy again tonight I wonder how many came because they read about us in the newspaper? Thanks Marc for the nice article.
This is Natalie and Tyler, they are the cutest couple you'll ever meet! Natalie's headband is super cute too.
This is Ed and Candace on the left, Dan and Renee on the right. They were ready to party tonight because Ed brought his own wine and I made sure the beers kept coming!
After we closed, Kenji came by for some free beer. Friday night good times!
Thanks for reading!

First update!
We had a fairly steady Friday night, with a lot of Sashimi dishes going out!
Of course we had our loyal Friday night regulars come in, this is Barbara and Steve. They have been coming here for 14 years! They are such a sweet couple.
Another Friday regular is Larry and Elaine, they have been coming here for 10 years. These two crack me up, but you have to watch out for Larry, if you're gullible like me he will get you with one of his jokes! I think I fall for every single one.
